Warranty and Returns?
Here at Loam & Lore we want you to be 100% happy with the choice you have made to help the planet, one compostable phone case at a time. We are all at the cutting edge of technology with these products and are learning about them daily. They may not yet be as sparkly, shiny or as colorful as other phone cases out there but they are 100% better for the planet!
We encourage you to have a bit of a relationship with your case - pay attention to it, clean it, protect it from pollutants so that it can look its best beside you every day. If for some reason you are not happy with it and feel a break up coming on, we have a 30 day Return Policy. For more information on our return policy here.
How do you clean a Loam and Lore case?
Our darker cases remain the cleanest looking. (Between you and I, they probably hide normal dirt and stains most effectively.)
If you would like to know of some ways to keep your L&L case clean we have listed some of our recommendations:
-Mild stains can be wiped off with a damp cloth and warm soapy dish water - remember to remove your phone first!
- If you would like to give your case a lovely spa day try soaking it in part vinegar part water then a dip in a bubble bath of warm soapy water. This should break down any grimey build-up.
- You can use rubbing alcohol to rub off hard-to-move stains
Have you seen the research that tells us how dirty and germy our phones (and tv remotes) are? It’s not a pretty picture! We suggest that to keep your phone case looking fly, you handle with love and care.
Will my light phone case show dirt more easily?
Absolutely. Like any new product, it comes out of its packaging like a shiny new pair of white sneakers - glowing in the light of day. Over time and continued use (some people have their phone in their hands nearly all day) the cover will pick up hand oils, dirt and dye more easily. Much like those sneakers, due to the porous nature of our compostable material your light colored phone case may start to look well-loved and well used. This doesn’t stop its efficiency though it is up to you to choose if these lighter cases are for you - if not we suggest a darker style. Or maybe a special going ‘out case’ in a pale colour and a dark one for everyday use.
If you do prefer the pale colours we suggest that you make or find a cloth bag to keep it in. Definitely avoid denim pockets as this dye stain is nearly impossible to remove from these cases. (And many other things!)
Is it an impact case? How well will my phone be protected?
We think that our phone cases are brilliant at protecting our phones (all the staff use our cases because we really do believe in them!) Unfortunately if your phone does break while our case is around it we at Loam & Lore are not liable for any damages to the device or your personal property.
What are Loam and Lore cases made from?
The raw material is a blend of bio-plastics (PBAT, Biodegradable TPU, PLA) and wheat straw fibers. Wheat fibres account for 25% of the weight; the increased biomass not only improves toughness against drops, but also helps it biodegrade quicker. The cases contain only eco-friendly substances and do not contain BPA, phthalates, cadmium or lead, and are 100% vegan. We are continually improving our material formulation to increase performance and reduce the time if takes for our cases to compost and degrade.
Did you invent the material used in your cases?
The case material is our own blend of wheat fibre reinforced bio-composites. There has been a lot of research done on enhanced plant fibre bioplastic composites, testing commonly available fibers such as wheat, bamboo, and flax. We've found that our blend of plant fibers and bioplastics gives the best balance between phone protection and compostability.
Is your packaging eco friendly?
We pride ourselves on our packaging, using nothing but recycled Kraft paper box or envelope and shipped in a recyclable paper envelope, without the use of plastic tape.
How long do your cases take to biodegrade?
Our wheat straw products will decompose in 90 to 120 days in an industrial composter. If you're in the UK, you can put your items straight into your green or blue bin, which is collected every week. It is the bin where all food (cooked or raw, meat , fish, vegetables), bones, branches and twigs, tea bags, bulbs, grass and hedge cuttings, leaves and weeds etc. are thrown away. It will be sent to be ground up with the rest of the waste, and left to decompose under appropriate conditions. If you use a compost bin at home, it will take 12-24 months to decompose completely.
